People might know you as a DJ and the manager of the Hot group in the Texas area known as "Yung Nation but you also seek other business opportunities is that correct?
I consider myself as a 'Digital Executive'. Its a new position I've coined. The music industry is changing and you can no longer only be good at only one thing on the business side. A 'Digital Executive' takes on the role of A&R, marketing, digital marketing and social media. I consider myself a culture builder. I'm always looking for new talent and new opportunities.
What are some projects we should be on the lookout for in the near future?
Definitely be on the look out for Yung Nation's 'iYess 2' and 'AF3'. 'iYess 2' is Yung Nation's new original project. I think its a pivotal step in their defining sound. I believe the next project we drop will be the actual 'Nation' sound that will translate to the masses, and iYess 2 is the perfect setup to that. 'AF3' is what YN does best, demolish mainstream beats. Its a Texas tradition.
2014 coming any goals you set for yourself and Yung Nation leading into the New Year?

Do you put yourself in the category as one of the leaders for the New School era of DJ's budding in the Texas in the past recent years.
Honestly, amongst the DJ world in Texas I'm considered an OG. I don't even touch the turntables anymore. I left it alone for the moment to establish myself as Digital Executive Merk. I have a few younger DJs I'm helping brand and bring up because I've been there and believe in DJs who actually want to break new music.
Any advice to those trying to pursue their dreams in the entertainment business?
My advice is to go to college. People act like they can't go get an education and win in music. I beg to differ, especially in the state of Texas. Most of the bigger Texas artists you know of today all went to college and built their fanbase there. At my alma mater, Prairie View, alone we bred: myself, DJ Mr. Rogers, DJ Premier, Dorrough Music, Kirko Bangz, Party Boyz, and SupaStaar. Making it in music is like winning the lottery. Really sit back and think about how many people you know who are trying to do music... how many do you think will ACTUALLY bring in revenue and make a living from it. Yeah... go to college, get a backup plan. That's the Digi Gospel.
